Rev. Dr. Mike Dearing, an Indiana Wedding Officiant, assisted Lauri Haskins and Corey Bechtel to become Mr. and Mrs. Bechtel. The ceremony took place at the Holiday Inn in Fort Wayne IN.
The couple used a modified version of the unique Ceremony of the Roses. It is a spiritual ceremony in which the couple marry each other.

For the Commitment part of the Ceremony, the couple used a 4 ribbon Handfastening Ceremony. Rev. Kathy Dearing assisted with the fastening.

The couple had a first for me. After introducing them as Mr and Mrs, the Best Man attached a Ball & Chain to Corey's ankle. Then they went down the aisle for the Processional.
I congratulate Lauri and Corey and wish them the best that life has to offer.

10 Questions to
Ask Your Wedding Officiant
Photo: Devonshire Photography
Having a wedding ceremony? Indianapolis Wedding Officiant, Rev. Dr. Mike Dearing, recommends you ask your wedding Officiant some key questions.
If you aren't sure how to choose an Officiant, here are ten questions you definitely want to ask.
- Is the Officiant available on your wedding date?
- Will the Officiant travel to your chosen wedding site/venue?
- If you don't have a site/venue, can the Officiant suggest one or provide a courthouse or meeting room?
- Does the Officiant charge a standard fee? Is the fee a flat rate or will there be addition expenses? Is there a deposit or when is the fee payment due?
- How long has the Officiant been performing weddings?
- Does the Officiant have sample wording/ceremonies/readings to show you?
- Will the Officiant let you specify ceremony details such as music, readings, and vows? Can you include religious touches if desired?
- Is the Officiant available for a ceremony rehearsal?
- Does the Officiant make you comfortable? Does he or she seem genuinely interested in you as a couple? Be sure you like and respect your Officiant -- and that the feeling is mutual.
- Would the Officiant (and his/her spouse) like to come to the reception and rehearsal dinner?
